My immediate family have been asking about what I want, and I now know what I am getting. From my father, I'm having to pay for half of the gift myself, but it is really nice. It's a new ViewSonic G90f 19" Monitor. Mmm, FlatScreen technology & 1280x1024x89Hz!
My mother is going to be getting me a gel wrist pad combination mouse pad, since my right wrist has been a bit sore lately. My brother has chocolate for me as per usual.
Marissa has two gifts for me I hear. A gag gift, and then a big gift she bought from eBay.
Today was the last day that TechBC existed as a corporate entity. The last of the TechBC staff ended their jobs today. To celebrate (mourn) we held a ballon launching ceremony from the roof of the Mall at 10am this morning. (One of the people there took photos, so here so the image is a link to the gallery.)
The government may have killed off what we had, but those of us who have been a part of TechBC will always remember it. TechBC forever!
Actually, I've just been having a minor argument over what a coconut looks like. So here is some research from the web
( Pictures follow )To conclude what was pointed out to me as a coconut, is actually a young coconut, which is why I did not recognize it. Looking at the life cycle of coconuts, when they are fully ripe, the green shell on the outside falls off, leaving the brown hairy part I am familiar with.
These are all of the systems I personally administer, either for myself, paid to, or as a favour. Some of them have really nice uptimes now. Some of them were better, but have had to get changes made to them, and security takes preference over uptime.

Just a little update about my life.
Since going sailing last weekend, I've been working during the week.
I left early on Thursday due to excessive construction noise at TechBC.
Friday afternoon I had a business meeting at Electronic Art's new Motion Capture studio. It's inside the Vancouver Film Studios complex, just off Skeena and Grandview.
Really nice hardware in there. State of the art motion capture systems are good. A couple of funny little things with it tho. The systems they use, basically have a large number of high intensity LED lights, with BW cameras. The people wear black velcro suits, with little reflective markers. The reflectiveness of the markers is make with 3M™ reflective tape. Apparentely that stuff is what works best.
Anyway, although my meeting was supposed to be 2pm till 5pm, the guys at EA had got all their work for the day done (setting up for a new motion capture shoot this coming week, for a skating game due out at Christmas). So the meeting got done early, and I was home by 4pm. Got to meet the top boss too, all the guys around there are good people. They also dislike the Development and QA people in EA, which is why they think having their own building away from Saunderson Way is nice. The only thing they miss is the gym.
I've been working on my new server a lot. It is called Cherenkov. Just a few more things to do (DHCPd, PHP and Netfilter) then it will be all ready, and I can put it into service, to finally replace Fermi.
I got one of my birthday presents today, a week early. (My birthday is Sunday, July 28).
It was an optical mouse from Tai.

So I haven't posted much real content to LiveJournal in a while now.
I've been working on my new server, as well as being at Work.
Once my new server is ready, I have a LOT of photos going up on it.
I've got a meeting at Electronic Art's new motion capture studio this afternoon, should be neat. Then I'm going out for dinner with Marissa and sleeping at her house.
Marissa wants me to go to see Reign of Fire with her at Guildford SilverCity, 7.40pm.
She does not know how sleep-deprived I am presently.I have been awake for approximately 32 hours now.
I am going to go, because I do not wish to loose her for now, even though I have not made my life-altering decision yet, and I do not wish to make it yet.

Char glowered at him. "What in the name of diseased crap are you reading?"
Terl did not much care for his tone. After all, Char was simply one of several mine managers, but Terl was chief of minesite security. "I didn't read it. I thought it."
"You must've got it from somewhere," growled Char. "What is that book?"
