Sep. 4th, 2002 12:23 amAnother thing with SFU Slurrey (which I will damn well call it if I want to) now is that it is way too crowded. Lunch time has a huge number of people in the pool, standing room only. No free labs to go anywhere (luckily I have a desk in my office area). And there was a queue to use the guy's washroom. It frigging sucks now compared to what it was. "All these young whipplesnappers!".
My opinion of Surrey is rapidly going downhill. Only in Surrey do I see large numbers of crackwhores, druggies, drug dealers and other underworld types. Also another thing I noticed about Surrey now, is the disproportionate number of mentally and physically impaired people. Ben Kenobi (Obi-Wan) said it best in Star Wars: A New Hope, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany." (Sound Clip).
Some people may now say (Audio Clip), but damn the torpedoes and to well with it (Sound Clip). Surrey is a scummy place compared to Burnaby or Vancouver, and deserves the name "Slurrey" IMHO.

Personally, I never liked Surrey myself, because of the way the streets go one way, and another way- you walk straight down one street and get hopelessly lost! Trust me, I have done it!
I don't know about all of the "types" you mentioned, because I haven't really hung around areas of Surrey which had those type of people in it, but then again big cities do have people in those categories- such as Vancouver- they have Hastings area- which is filled with people like that...I don't know if Burnaby has an area like that, I know hookers and junkies used to hang outfront the old apartments I lived in (Hillside Gardens), so....New West has a couple of places where you can see again those types of people...So their not all restricted to just Surrey...

Date: 2002-09-04 12:55 pm (UTC)It all just depends where you go.
The nicer parts aren't bad at all.
The roads aren't too confusing! :P streets run one, avenues run the other. one way goes down, the other way goes up (in terms of numbers) I think it's easy if you're used to it. I find vancouver confusing with all the street names! Ah.. at least with number i know what comes next :P hehe

South-east Calgary is another story too.

Date: 2002-09-04 06:01 pm (UTC)I don't know how someone could get lost in Burnaby...but then again I guess if your not used to the area, you could get lost.
As for Calgary, I wouldn't know...i've never been there... :)

Date: 2002-09-04 06:13 pm (UTC)Calgary is retarded because they use the same name for various streets.
Such as, Douglas St, Douglas Cl, Douglas Pk, Douglas Wy, Douglas Cr, etc. This is used ALL IN THE SAME AREA. It drove me up the wall.

The area TechBC is in is a crummy one, they built that huge fucking tower to lighten the place up.
Life sucks and then you die. It's worth it to lighten up.
