Is email really the right way to ask somebody out?
I suppose if it is the only means that you have, it will have to do.

I'm going to move ahead in my life, and expand my horizons.

Email is alright..
It's better in person.. If you get accepted.. =) Because then you can hear tone of voice, etc!
But it's not a horrible way.
So don't worry, N'good luck.
