Recent LJ spam

I apologize for doing this, but recent onslaught of spammers (~35 in the last 5 days) have left me with no choice: I've changed comments from non-friends to be screened by default AND require a captcha.

There has to be a better answer to spam. But I'm not sure what it is. Left to themselves, the spammers will destroy the very usefulness of the medium they rely on for their income.

I made my lj friends only for a few reasons, but this was the thing that pushed me over the edge to that decision
