Dammit Dammit Dammit!
Ouch Ouch OUCH!
The replacement RAM I got from NCIX still doesn't work, and while rotating memory to see if that would help things, I managed to gash my left index finger badly.
How did I do that you ask?
Well, I turned off the power to my system, and my hand was moving in to take out the one piece of ram. Then my finger contacted the edge of my 7000rpm fan. Objects rotating at insane speeds, with hard, sharp edges should NOT be mixed with soft flesh.
I get a deep gash about 1.5cm long on my left index finger from it.
Blood flies everywhere after that, splattering all over. This is not helped by the fact that after I removed my finger from the fan, I flicked it around in pain some, before sticking it in my mouth because it was bleeding quite profusely since the cut was deep.
Blood coming out of the one side of the cut was dark red, and the other was light red, indicating that I manged to open both arteries and veins.
I had forgotten the taste of blood. I am not a vampire, but it isn't bad. ;-) It has been a long time since I made such a nasty gash on myself and lost blood like this. I mean, I'm always getting little nicks and scratches from working with computers, but they clot almost instantly. This gash didn't.
I went upstairs and ran it under some water to wash it out, and then I grabbed some duct tape. You would ask why I use duct tape and not a band-aid? Well, it was handy, it sticks better under wet conditions, and it holds things closed a LOT better. I think I will redo the closing again, once the blood loss slows down a bit. While I was trying to put the duct tape on, I was nearly blacking out, as I am fine with the sight of blood in general, but not my own blood.
Typing without that finger is a major problem.
My dinner is nearly ready now, so I will go and eat. I'll clean up all the splattered blood after that.
