I had a really decent day today.

Woke up at noon, had leftover pizza for lunch. Wrapped gifts for Marissa (Towel, Hello Kitty toy, burnt audio CDs).

Went to Metrotown to meet Marissa, Vanessa, Jenny, Iouri, Gordon, Boris, Mike & Cynthia. Watched LoTR. It's a long movie at 3.5 hours, but well worth it. I'm not putting any plot spoilers in here, but I will say that the storyline is good, and the graphical effects are really wicked.

After the movie, Gordon, Boris & Cynthia left, and the rest of us went to Taisho Sushi. The sushi was good as per normal, afterwards we all split to go our own directions. Traded gifts with Marissa on the bus, she gave me: Optical Mouse, 2x 128MB PC133 DIMMs, tracksuit top, fridge magnet ("Cogito, ergo sum").

I'm running on my new computer now. I posted the specs of it a little while back, and now i'm all set up. I've got a 17" monitor (but I want a bigger one!) as well as an optical mouse (one of my christmas gifts from Marissa).

In my usual tradition of naming computers on my internal LAN, this computer has been christened as newton. The others are tesla (my old system), fermi (the server), henon (my brother's crap box, einstein (my father's system) & heiselberg (my little crappy pentium 90 laptop).

My only qualms about the system so far are the random sporadic total hardware lockups. It just freezes dead, and I need to cycle power to fix it. And the soundcard doesn't put out enough volume! I need bigger speakers! I think I will go and borrow my set of work speakers from TechBC for the holidays. Maybe I can find two sets, then I can have quad surrond sound 8-).
