"Using an INSERT .. SELECT .. FROM DUAL ... WHERE NOT EXISTS" is subject to the same limitation as the stored procedure example. - special variant of every INSERT query. - no multiple rows in a single insert
It also doesn't give us the ability to do REPLACE.
