I woke up a bit late this morning, so I just skipped breakfast to make up my time. Only had 1 mug of tea, no coffee today. I want to try and avoid caffinne totally, just to see what effect it has on me. So that means no coffee, hot chocolate, tea or caffinated pop. I might make a few exceptions with hot chocolate tho, to warm me up.

Math class was the standard this morning, applications of derivitives today. Since then, I've worked on my HTTC project some, getting it into true 3D in VRML on the FakeSpace. It still needs work, but it is doing really well so far.

My NMI project is also doing really well, I'll post up the movie on my site somewhere, for people to see. Thomas did an excellent job on it, since I don't know much about video editing, he did that part of the work.

I'm going to have lunch with Marissa in a bit, and then I will finish my Java assignment, I think I have tweaked it enough to beat enough other people (like everybody 8-).

I am really really friggin cold today. I dunno why. I did manage to catch some more sleep last night. Around 7 hours of it. I'm exploring compiling my linux kernel in different ways today. I have nearly everything as a module, with the full intent to use initrd to deal with it.

Still working on homework as well. I have 2 pages to do for BGE, due midnight tonight, I should study a bit for the math quiz tommorow morning, and I need to start of my final projects for HTTC, BGE and PE.

In reading Sleep Thieves more, I certainly see things that reflect my current state of mental affairs there. I get 4-5 hours of sleep on Monday and Wednesday nights, and 6-7 other nights, doing all the homework I do, and trying to keep up with my normal activities as well. I have generally been managing quite fine but today was the worst dragging on it has been in a long time. Song: "A-Ha - Minor Earth - Major Sky\10 - Barely Hanging On".

I think it may have something to do with the fact that I have drastically reduced my caffinne intake, but I only decided to do that because it was having no effect at all on me anymore. Song: "Ace Of Base - Beautiful Live".

Yes, definetly some signs from Sleep Thieves are present with me. Delayed mentral processes being first and foremost amongst them. It is good that I am very well versed with the keyboard so that I can carry on typing this even while my eyes drift off to sleep.

Why do I cut down on sleep? I have piles of homework to do. And midterms next week. Generally, I just carry on pushing myself at doing the work, like what I have been doing tonight. I felt that I wanted to go to bed around 6pm, but I just made myself carry on working. Apart from stopping for about half an hour for dinner and reading some livejournals, I have been working near continuously since I got home around 5.30pm. Song: "Bluemchen - Der Beste Von Alles"

One thing that has worked out over the weekend, was my new server. It's now getting everything nessecary installed on it. I have named it 'Bohr' in keeping with my naming scheme for computers. (Fermi, Tesla, Einstein, Henon, Joule, Newton)

My WinAMP playlist has expanded some. My HDD now has 15gb of MP3, which is 3628 items on my playlist, comprising 251 hours and 45 minutes. w00t! more than 10 days of music!

Whoa. It's like I dropped off the face of the planet for a few days. I didn't feel like posting to LJ at all, I didn't do any homework whatsoever, and I hardly got any email!

A number of events have occured since I last posted. On Friday, I spent the day hacking computer hardware. In the evening, I went out to BEST's 10th aniversy part with Marissa, and then we hung at Tara's apartment for a while, before getting the late bus home. I missed the last bus at Willingdon and Hastings, so I called my parents to pick me up, and they were a little pissed off, but that wasn't too bad.

Saturday I was downtown to do more filming for my NMI project. It's making great progress now. Kudos to Thomas for doing an amazing job in video editing. I'll put up the work in a while for everybody to see.

Sunday, Marissa brought her computer down for me to migrate her existing drive data to a new drive, but that ended up not working properly. We went out around 6.30pm to have dinner with Neil. Made him sit and get hungry before it was a reasonable time for dinner. Yes! I eat my dinner late. 9pm or 10pm is not uncommon for me. We went to Cactus Club @ Metro, I had a Maui chicken. Marissa had a full serving of chicken and beef faijita, and I shared my Mocha ice-cream tart slice with her for dessert. Then we wandered around the Metro, talking a lot. One funny thing, while sitting at the one Metro entrance, a guy with a big bag of Kaiser rolls went by, and Marissa shouts out, "Nice Buns!" Neil has had an interesting history it seems, from attending CDIS to doing plenty of drugs.

This morning, I carted Marissa's computer back up to her dorm, and set it up, and cleaned her room up a little bit while she was out to her Psych class. Had early lunch with her after that, and came home via Lougheed Mall, after stopping at Walmart to buy more Columbian instant coffee.

I've got a headache now, and I'm listening to very basey music. Does that make sense? Nope. Its "Run Lola Run - OST\01 - Franka Potente - Believe". Go figure.

I'm sitting in the Surrey Place Mall food court, browsing the web from my Linux laptop. Compiling the latest kernel. Listening to an audio CD!

I had my macaroni now. Microwaving it more solved the frozen problem.

Frozen dinner takes too long to cook! My mother left a frozen macaroni and cheese for tonights dinner. I took it out around 5pm to thaw, but now, even after 20 minute of microwaving on defrost, and being in the toaster oven for 20 minutes, it is still partly frozen.

Bah! When the toaster oven stops in 10 minutes, I'll microwave it on high. I'm hungry now!

I realize that i've said nothing of actual content for the last few days. Since Wednesday last week in fact. I dunno why, but somethings have been conspiring to get me to work really hard, and then life has just been dragging along.

I'm sitting in my classroom now, waiting for the programming class to start. Playing "Sarah McLachlan - Mirrorball\08 - The Path of Thorns" on a pair of speakers I found somebody left here. Last week, Wednesday night and Thursday night, I got very little sleep. 2 ½ hours each night to be exact. That was just due to large amounts of homework. I had to write a long business paper, do stuff for my art class, and write a Java applet for programming.

It wasn't that the work was hard, it is just that it is quite time consuming. And there was something nasty with the Java, that an entire package class doesn't work in Internet Explorer. Stupid Microsoft JVM.

On Thursday evening, going home, I met up with Marissa, she got a new big coat, and we caught the bus home. Her 135 later stalled on the way up the mountain, but you can read about that in her journal.

I spent Friday afternoon with her, and had a nice little nap ;-). Saturday was spent on homework again.

Sunday, I went downtown to film stuff for my art class. Marissa came with, hanging out and being an equipment gaffer, for lack of anything else to do. Tara was a great help, as our main actor. She had red hair, so it worked well with her as Lola. I didn't know beforehand that she had professional acting training, so that ended up being a plus. Filmed stuff in Yaletown, Gastown, along the seawall, and near the CBC.

Yesterday, I managed to catch up on a lot more sleep, and then spent time programming an assignment for Jon, before doing my next programming assignment, and the usual postings for HTTC.

Just stuffed full of surprises. No one ever knows what you're going to do next. The greatest mystery to you is, naturally, "how do they get the caramel in the Caramilk bars?"

I got up around 10.30am this morning. Feeling not wonderful. I think I'm coming down with the flu more definetly. I helped my mother with her crossword, filled a letter to complete the name of a tie and an indian tribe (BOLO and OLMECA). Since then, I've been working on my homework. The business assignment was the main thing, and I got that about 90 minutes ago, and now I've just finished the math work. I still need to do the art homework for tommorow, and I must prepare for a meeting with the manager of ET&L at TechBC and his senior sysadmin tommorow.

On that last bit, to stop me having to search for it, could somebody provide me with a javascript oneliner to open a new window with a given URL? I don't care about the dimensions of the window or anything, I just need it to load up a page automatically, but if the window is hidden, it would be better. Also, could I have the JS to check that the page is finished loading, and then close that window? Thanks in advance.

There is something more complex with JavaScript I would like, but it can wait. I want a bit of JS that can parse the contents of an existing frame and extract a set of URLs from it, that match a certain pattern.

I'm going to grab something to drink, and then make a start on the art work. If anybody has a good site with lots of pictures of city streets from various angles, please point me to it.
