Events update
Dec. 2nd, 2001 01:37 amHmm, yet again, I haven't updated a lot about recent events.
On Thursday, we had the TechBC openhouse. I spent the morning building and hooking up the sound system, and calibrating the displays in the afternoon. Marissa came for the open house, and ended up sitting outside the main door, inviting people in, while playing Tetris on her palm. The other demos near me were our RoboCup soccer team, and the CompoundEye video editor. I took a 1 hour break 6.30pm till 7.30pm while I got awarded my scholarship of $3000. After it was done, I grabbed some chinese takeout, nibbled bit, then me and marissa got a ride with patrick back home, and I reheated the chinese that marissa and I then ate for dinner.
On Friday, I had my novice driving test, I passed, but I couldn't do parallel parking properly. So I do now have my N, but my father won't let me drive his car. After I got back, I caught the bus up to SFU to see Marissa, swam in the pool (lost my wallet on the benches), and played pool at OOC. Then I brought her home for our nice celebratory dinner, roast lamb, carrots, butternut, green beans, rice, roast potato. Plus an apple tart dessert that I had baked earlier in the day. After dinner we lounged about while my father was flipping through channels on the TV.
On Saturday, I got up at 11am, lurked the net for some while, had lunch, and went off to metrotown. We stopped at Old Orchid mall to get new bus passes at the Shopper's Drug Market, but they didn't have (They are supposed to according to the translink site!). Went next door to the IGA, which was utter chaos, and got the passes after 20 minutes and much bumbling of the staff. Went to the library to drop off my books, grabbed teh SkyTrain down to Surrey Place. Lots of delays due to work on the line. Grabbed Marissa's palm that she had forgetten after the open house, took skytrain back to columbia. I wanted to catch the 147/148/156 to lougheed on columbia, but there was a parade, so somebody said teh bus was diverted to carnevon. Walked up there, waited at the stop, the bus was coming towards us, but then promptly turned up the street. Everybody at the stop sprinted off towards the bus. Caught the bus, got stuck in traffic going to Lougheed. Missed the 145 at lougheed by a few minutes. Waited nearly 30 minutes in the cold wind for the next one. Got to SFU Security and waited to collect my wallet. Everything except the $20 note was in there. Called marissa from a payphone to check that she was in her dorm, and went to give her palm back to her. Relaxed a moment while I told her the events of the day, then went to catch the next 144 towards home. Bucketing with rain when I was walking the last bit.
